Project settings allow you to control how your project is displayed to participants and how they are allowed to join it. These are primarily contained within the "About Settings" and "Enrollment Settings" tabs. The tables in the first two sections below give a brief description of each setting, and the final section explores some of these settings in the context of public and private projects.

Settings: Enrollment
The Enrollment section determines how participants will enroll in your project, which platforms they can enroll with, and how to format the Participant IDs (i.e., should it each PID have a specific prefix).
Setting | Function | Examples |
---|---|---|
Enrollment Survey | The survey that participants will complete before enrolling in the project. The participant is prompted with this survey immediately after logging into MyDataHelps and joining the project. Only published surveys can be selected. | eFHS Consent, MPOG Consent |
Invitation Email | The email participants get when they are invited to join the project; options include the default, any existing email notification, or none. | N/A |
Requires Identifier Validation | Whether the project requires participants to enter a valid identifier before joining. | Yes/No |
Allow Enrollment via Code | Whether the project allows participants to enroll with a project code or with shared device mode. | Yes/No |
New Participant Survey Links | Links that prospective participants can use to be added to your project using a survey. Completing the survey will create a new participant with the submitted survey data attached. | Waitlist, Eligibility Screening, Consent |
Show in Search | Whether the project is visible in the public search to anyone who downloads the MyDataHelps app. Allow Enrollment via Project Code must also be enabled. Only available to CareEvolution approved projects/organizations. | Yes/No |
Protected Participants |
Participant data will be protected from organization users unless the participant explicitly chooses to share data. This allows a single project to host research participants who wish to share data as well as those who only wish to join a care management program. | Yes/No |
Enable for Platforms | Device platforms on which users can join the project. | “iOS”, “Android”, “Web” |
Participant Identifier Prefix | A prefix is added to automatically generated participant identifiers. “MDH” is the standard prefix that MyDataHelps Designer assigns. Users may choose their own prefix by updating this field. | “ProjectName” or “Cohort1” |
Public and Private Projects
Public projects are visible in the search results for anyone who downloads MyDataHelps. To make a project public, set Show in Search to "Yes."
Only licensed organizations can have their projects listed in the search results.
Private projects are unlisted; you must be given a code, link, or invitation to join them. By default, Allow Enrollment via Code is set to "Yes." This will reveal a unique code and QR code image that participants can use in MyDataHelps to enroll. You can also use the code to set up a shared device.
If your project is not public and you do not allow enrollment via a project code, you must invite participants manually. The email entered on the invitations tab must match the email the participant used to register with MyDataHelps.
Requiring Identifier Validation
Another way to control who can enroll in your project is to use identifier validation. This requires you to assign each participant a unique identifier when you invite them. The participant will be prompted to enter that same identifier when they join to ensure they are the correct individual.
To enable identifier validation, set Requires Identifier Validation to 'Yes'. Identifier validation may be used for public or private projects.
